U.S. In Iraq & Iran : Finally Getting It Right

For the past 5 years the U.S. has suffered defeat after defeat in the preemptive Iraq War debacle. Unphased the U.S. now is considering expanding the mess into neighboring Iran. Even if Iran didn't respond to American targeted bombing, worldwide commodities funds would drive the oil futures market up minimally to $175.00 /bbl. That would further cripple our economy and may cause a collapse in tangental economies. It would also exacerbate the world food crisis. But of course Iran would respond and the fallout from a preemptive war in Iran would severely greater to world economies.

It's a truism that " People who can't remember can never learn". And so if people refuse to learn from yesterday in Iraq, today in Iraq and all those tomorrows in Iraq then it will get worse. So how will it all end for the U.S. in Iraq and the Middle East? We will lose big. And then and only then will America finally come up with a sustainable Middle East policy.

The implied corollary to this predictable outcome is that preemptive war is not a wise policy and by extension all preemptive wars SHOULD BE LOST lest they become a bad habit.

Bush & Truman: Israel, Oil & Nuclear Weapons

The recent cover of "Newsweek" showed former President Harry Truman and a poster "WANTED: A NEW TRUMAN". Gee, why? He's the guy who dropped 2 nucler bombs on Japanese civilians who were already defeated. Also, his administration was the driving force for the creation of Israel out of the partition of historic Palestine. The world has been the worse for both those dark deeds.

Actually George Bush is repeating parts of Truman's deeds by threatening a nuclear attack on Iran an by his unconditional support of the Zionists thugs. When Truman ordered the the nuclear attack on Japan there were only 2 nuclear weapons in the world. Now there over 11,000 nukes in existence. When Truman put in motion the creation of Israel, this lead to the ethnic cleansing of app. 750,000 indigenous Palestinians. Now the dislocated Palestinian population has swollen to over 5 million and additional billions of the world population are threatened by Middle East unrest. No, we don't need another Truman, 1/2 pint Bush is Trumanesque enough.

Yesterday in Glasgow,Scotland, a would-be suicide bomber was literally on fire from burning gasoline but continued to punch police officers and shout"Allah, Allah"! That bomber was the incarnation of what America should distance itself from-fossil fuels and Israel.

Israel's Security Versus The Price Of Oil

Today Victor Davis Hanson's op-ed piece titled " It's the oil, stupid" tried to make the case that lower oil prices would rein in Iran, Syria and their proxies Hamas, Hezbollah etc.

The last time I looked at the occupied territories of historic Palestine, I didn't notice any benefits of petro-dollars cash flow. Maybe Mr. Hanson wants Israel to be left alone and not criticised while it continues it's 60 year old slow-motion genocide of the Palestinians. The fact is that Palestinian suicide bombers do their thing for free. They don't need huge amounts of petro-dollars to be effective. The price per barrel of oil in 1947 was $2.50. Today it's in the $ 60's. The rigged U.N. partition vote of Palestine was taken in 1947. Since that time, the Palestinian resistance has been the low-cost producer of war. Money or the price of oil has nothing to do with their cause.
