How Can Bush Help McCain ?

"Baghdad ( Reuters) The U.S. military said on Sunday [February 17, 2008] it had evidence Iranian-backed Shiite militias in Iraq were increasingly using secret weapons to attack U.S. and Iraqi forces."

This includes rogue elements of cleric Moqtada al-Sadr and his Mehdi Army. Al-Sadr has voluntarily abided by a ceasefire for the past 6 months. Why? Probably bribed. But now that the "surge has worked" largely because of paying/bribing Sunni militias $10 per day to stop fighting their usefulness may have been fully realized.

But the new goal of the Bush Administration is to get McCain elected. So how best can Bush help? Bush is a unique super delegate. He can change the political calculus with a simple command from his postion as commander in chief. Suppose Bush provoked al-Sadr by attacking his forces? Would a reignition of Baghdad fighting help or hurt McCain? I'll bet that there is at least a 2 out of 3 chance that Bush will do something to reheat Baghdad .This would pull together again the republican base and would take some of the democratic momentum away no matter what Obama or Clinton say.

General David Petraeus, Fox Neocon News & Secrets Of Surge " Success"

Fox's Neocon chautauqua-news staged an implied Victory In Iraq award ceremony on Sunday. The host asked Gen. David Petraeus if he planned to seek the presidency after his recent pacification of Iraq.

The General said, " No". And why should the General be proud of this type of "military victory"? After all the secret of the success of the " surge" was simply to pay Sunnis $10.00 per day to fight al-qaeda or stay at home. That's $3.00 per day more than they were on average earning during the Saddam era. Also the other secret of the success of the surge was the Iranian savior faire to reign in Shiite militias so Bush could have a smelly fig leaf to hide behind in exchange for an implied no U.S. bombing of Iran position.

The pity of it all was the Iraq War was a war of choice and only made things worse for American prestige and security in the future.

Iraq Victory?

The news is filled with favorable reports and anecdotal photos of how Baghdad is so much safer. Credit is given to Bush's "surge" tactic. So are we supposed to believe that after app. 1,000,000 Iraqi war-related deaths, 4,000,000 Iraqi refugees, $700 billion and counting spent by the U.S. , app. 3900 U.S. deaths, app. 84,000 U.S. casualities that all's well that ends well?

I don't think so. I think the more accurate description of present day Iraq/Baghdad is that it is de facto partioned. And that makes the U.S. redundant. Our troops should leave as the Brits have and we will see a further cessation of hostilities.

May Bush, Cheney et al rot.

Baghdad Chaos: Hey George, Surge This !

Bush, our moronic, brat-in-chief, will make an Iraqi policy speech this Wednesday. He is expected to call for a "surge" of 20,000 additional U.S. troops to pacify Baghdad. Also, get this, he will call for an additional $ 1 billion for rebuilding projects in Baghdad that will be directed at Iraqi-only contractors ( is this a bribe?). It's a clean-up-as-you-destroy project.

The surge will fail. New York City employs app. 40,000 police for a city of similar size in a relatively blissful atmosphere. Someone tell me how the American soldiers know who the enemy is ? They don't wear uniforms. Even the Iraqis don't know who they are kidnapping. Note that some kidnapped victims are relaesed while others are tortured and killed.

How about not destroying Baghdad so we will not have to rebuild it? Hey Bush, surge this!
